Dave DeBorde - Acting for the Screen

First Name:
Dave
Last Name:
DeBorde

Coming from a diverse background in theatre and film, with an emphasis in improvisation, Dave DeBorde has continued to sharpen his dramatic skills as a director and consultant for numerous film and video projects.

After getting his start as a child actor, Dave moved to Los Angeles and joined a repertory theatre company, CP, shortly after graduating from high school in Virginia. As a member of CP, he was trained in the troupe's Los Angeles conservatory and studied everything from acting technique to stage combat.

In addition to his responsibilities to the rep company, Dave actively competed as a member of an improv troupe, and developed several characters which quickly segued him into writing as well.

After his successful run with CP, Dave went on to write and direct plays including multiple dinner theatres, original plays and two original musicals that played to 500+ packed, laughter-filled houses and great financial success.

Dave has taught and directed actors who have performed in network television and have been nominated for television awards as well as one of his actors grabbing a lead in a recent revival of Mamet's Glengary Glenross at the prestigious Steppenwolf theatre in Chicago.

For over two decades, Dave has thoroughly enjoyed plying his craft and is known in the film communities of both Florida and Los Angeles as an actors' director because of both his training and experience as an actor himself.

Dave is currently professor of film at South Eastern University in Lakeland.
