Instructor

The course will be taught by Lulu Fries'dat, professional editor working out of New York and winner of the 2008 Sunscreen Film Festival award for Best Documentary, Holler Back.

Lulu has been editing and doing post production/color correction for broadcast since 1997 at NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, MTV among others (currently at CBS). She's also edited on several feature films. She recently directed and edited a music video for Moby.  You can see it here http://vimeo.com/user4041040

Location

Classes will be held at Realizing Media. A professional post production studio with mac workstations and the latest final cut pro software. Bring your own project on a laptop, or have a project and computer provided! All levels welcome.

Details

The workshop will cover the following:

Capturing Media
The Interface
Organization
Basic Editing
Trim, Ripple, Roll, (and other ways of perfecting your cut)
Audio & Music
Narrative & Pacing
Effects & Filters
Color Correction
Output

Students are encouraged to bring in their own footage which will serve as material for course projects. Techniques will be demonstrated on Final Cut Pro, but Lulu will work to accommodate whatever software students bring in.

 

The course is suitable for anyone interested in learning to make better cuts in their video, from family movies to abstract mixed media installations to timing and rhythm in your feature film projects. Work hand in hand with a professional to expand the potential of any video you are working with.
